NANDA DEVI EAST CAMP

Nanda Devi Peak falls in Uttarakhand’s three districts: Pithoragarh, Chamoli, and Bageshwar. This is the second-highest peak in India after Kangchenjunga and the 23rd-highest worldwide. The trek would be to Nanda Devi Base Camp at 4400 meter. The trek is a difficult level trek, requiring prior trekking experience. This trek is in Nanda Devi National Park, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. On this trek, you will also see many massive Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi Peak. This trek would give you a glimpse of the life lived by the Himalayan people at such an altitude with limited resources. The peaks also visible on this trek are Nanda Kot, Mount Chnaguch, Sahalang Dhura, Nanda Bhanar, and Nanda Lapak, with many other mountains. On this trek, you will stay at locations like Ghangharia, Martoli, Bogudiar, Rargari, Raikot, Munsiyari, and Pachu Glacier, which provide scenic views and a fantastic experience.

If you are going on a trek don’t expect mobile signals. There are few spots on the trails of few treks where you might find a single tower or something but it always depends if that is enough to make a call or not.

>How do you manage toilets?
We use portable toilet tents for sanitation needs, as permanent structures may not available. These are dry toilets, so please bring wet wipes or tissue paper for personal hygiene.

>Do I need to carry trek equipment?
For this trek you just need a day bag to carry during the trek, extra luggage can be left behind at the camp site. Proper bedded swiss tents are available on this trek.

>Can we consume Alcohol during the trek?
It’s a strict no. If you fall sick during the trek due to alcohol consumption H2H has the right to cancel your trek and send you back to base village. No expenses shall be refunded in that case and you will have to pay additional for stay at base village.

>How do I prepare for the trek?
Start running/walking at least 3-4 Kms everyday.

>What kind of shoes will I need? Does a sport shoe work?
If it’s a snow trek a good trekking shoe is mandatory. If you buy a new shoe do walk for few days so that it fits you well and doesn’t leave you with blisters while you trek. If it is a summer trek or post monsoon trek a shoe with good grip and ankle support will do.

Carry the original and a photocopy of a government-issued photo identity card. This can include a driver’s license, Aadhar Card, or passport. The forest department requires this for identification purposes.

This certificate must be filled out by an MBBS doctor. Without it, the forest department will not issue permissions for your trek. Hike2Heaven also requires this certificate.

An essential part of Live Saving Drugs, Diamox helps reduce the chances of Acute Mountain Sickness on the trek.

  • A paracetamol that tackles fever and mild pain.

If you are prone to motion sickness, carry Avomine. Take one-half hour before the start of your road journey.

 Useful for sudden twists or muscle strains. Combiflam is a pain reliever containing paracetamol.

 Take it if you feel the food, you’ve consumed is undigested. Alert your trek leader immediately, as it could be a sign of AMS.

 Consume an ORS pack at least once a day, usually mid-day during your trek. It replenishes essential salts lost while trekking. Tip: It also makes cold water easier to drink.

Carry this if you are prone to knee injury or have known issues of knee pain.

Our trek leaders carry a high-altitude medical kit, including Life Saving Drugs, and are trained to handle emergencies. Contact your trek leader before consuming any of these medicines.

  • Full payment must be made in advance to confirm bookings and can be done in Cash/UPI/Bank account only.
  • Personal cheques and post-dated cheques are not acceptable.
  • Payments can be deposited using bank details, online payment, Gpay, Phonepe, Paytm.
  • A scan or fax copy of the bank-stamped deposit Pay-in slip or a screenshot of the transaction is required for online transfers.
