The Neelkanth Base trek is a popular trekking route in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Neelkanth is a towering peak named after Lord Shiva and is considered one of the most iconic mountains in the Garhwal Himalayas. The trek takes you to the base of this majestic peak and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.
Journey Begins: Depart from Rishikesh early in the morning, heading towards Badrinath, one of the Char Dhams in Uttarakhand. The drive takes you through scenic routes, offering views of the Ganges and the Himalayas.
Stop at Joshimath: En route, stop at Joshimath, a crucial pilgrimage site in its own right and a gateway to several Himalayan treks. Explore the town and perhaps visit the Adi Shankaracharya Math.
Arrive at Badrinath: Continue to Badrinath and check into your accommodation. Spend the evening visiting the Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and immerse yourself in the spiritual atmosphere of the place.
Trek to Charan Paduka: Start early from Badrinath and trek towards Charan Paduka, a sacred site believed to hold the footprints of Lord Vishnu. The trek offers stunning views of the valley and the Badrinath Temple.
Continue to Neelkanth Base: From Charan Paduka, proceed to the base of the Neelkanth peak, a prominent Himalayan mountain. The trek becomes more challenging but rewards with breathtaking views of Neelkanth, known as the 'Garhwal Queen.' Camp at Neelkanth Base: Set up camp at the base of Neelkanth. Enjoy the serene beauty of the surroundings and the majestic views of the peak.
Visit Mana Village: Descend from Neelkanth Base towards Mana, the last village before the Mana Pass and close to the Tibet border. Explore the village, visiting sites like Vyas Gufa, where it's believed Ved Vyas composed the Mahabharata.
Return to Badrinath: After exploring Mana, return to Badrinath. Spend another evening in this sacred town, perhaps revisiting the temple for the evening aarti or exploring the hot springs.
Return Journey: Depart from Badrinath and head back to Rishikesh. The drive back gives you time to reflect on the spiritual and natural beauty experienced during your journey.
Arrive in Rishikesh: Once in Rishikesh, your journey comes to an end. Take some time to rest and reflect on the pilgrimage to Badrinath, the trek to Neelkanth Base, and the visit to the ancient village of Mana. This journey offers not only a glimpse into the Himalayan wilderness but also a deep dive into the spiritual heritage of Uttarakhand.

1.DOCUMENTS REQUIRED: -
To ensure a smooth and hassle-free trekking experience with Hike2Heaven, make sure you have the following documents ready. These documents are required by both Hike2Heaven and the forest department, and without them, you will not be permitted to trek.
1.Government Photo Identity Card: Carry the original and a photocopy of a government- issued photo identity card. This can include a driver’s license, Aadhar Card, or passport. The forest department requires this for identification purposes.
2. Disclaimer Certificate: The disclaimer certificate consists of two sections:
•Personal Medical Record if anyDuring registration at the base camp, hand it over to your Trek Leader.
Pro Tips:. Safeguard your important documents by placing them in a clear plastic cover and sliding them into the inner pocket at the back of your backpack. This precaution prevents them from getting wet and ensures their safety throughout the trek.

2. VITAL GEAR KIT: -
Before making any gear purchases, consider inquiring at Hike2Heaven for custom-made, high- quality gear available at just 5% of the buying cost. Rent trekking essentials like shoes, backpacks, padded jackets, trekking poles, rainwear, and headlamps for less than Rs 1400 for the entire duration of your trek.
3.PERSONAL MEDICAL/HEALTH KIT: -
Ensure you carry these medicines with you, easily accessible always. Remember not to take any medicine unless you have consulted your trek leader.
1. Diamox (1 Strip): An essential part of Live Saving Drugs, Diamox helps reduce the chances of Acute Mountain Sickness on the trek.
2. Dolo 650 (5 tablets): A paracetamol that tackles fever and mild pain.
3. Avomine (4 tablets): If you are prone to motion sickness, carry Avomine. Take one-half hour before the start of your road journey.
4. Combiflam (5 tablets): Useful for sudden twists or muscle strains. Combiflam is a pain reliever containing paracetamol.
5. Digene (4 tablets): Take it if you feel the food, you've consumed is undigested. Alert your trek leader immediately, as it could be a sign of AMS.
6. ORS (6 packs): Consume an ORS pack at least once a day, usually mid-day during your trek. It replenishes essential salts lost while trekking. Tip: It also makes cold water easier to drink.
7. Knee Brace (optional): Carry this if you are prone to knee injury or have known issues of knee pain.
