Overview

Your Adventure at a Glance

The Doodhpathri Trek is one of Kashmir’s most scenic and lesser-explored trekking experiences, taking adventurers through vast alpine meadows, dense forests, pristine valleys, glacier-fed rivers, and a chain of stunning high-altitude lakes. Nestled in the Pir Panjal Range, this offbeat trek begins from the beautiful Doodhpathri Valley, often called the “Valley of Milk” because of its milky-white streams flowing through lush grasslands.

Unlike the more crowded trekking routes of Kashmir, Doodhpathri offers a peaceful journey into untouched Himalayan landscapes. The trail passes through enchanting locations such as Ashtar Valley, Gurwansar, Pamsar, Duriem, and Gadtar while revealing breathtaking views of rolling meadows, alpine ridges, and crystal-clear lakes hidden among rugged mountain terrain.

One of the biggest highlights of this trek is the opportunity to witness multiple alpine lakes, including Gurwansar Lake, Pamsar Lake, Bodsar Lake, Trastar Lake, Navkansar Lakes, and Damamsar Lake. Each lake possesses its own unique charm and reflects the beauty of the surrounding Himalayan wilderness.

With a maximum altitude of around 13,060 ft, the trek falls under the moderate to difficult category and is best suited for trekkers with good fitness levels. The constantly changing landscapes, remote camping locations, and untouched beauty make the Doodhpathri Trek an unforgettable adventure for nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts.
