The trek starts from Ghuttu and moves parallel to River Bhillangna. You cross the Mayali pass at approximately 5300 meters above MSL. The trek offers an extraordinary experience of Indian Himalayas. The remote Indian villages of Gangi, bear-infested forests, Sahastra Taal, Kush kalyan plateau, Masar Taal, views of the peaks on the southern side of the Gangotri glacier, Bhilangna river Catchment, Thalay Sagar peak, Khatling glacier are the highlights of Mayali Pass trek.

Day 1

Dehradun to Guttu to Gangi Village

Departure from Dehradun:Commence your journey bright and early from Dehradun towards Guttu, a quaint village serving as the entry point for various treks, including the path leading to Gangi Village.

Arrival at Gangi:By evening, reach the remote Gangi Village. Immerse yourself in the traditional Himalayan lifestyle and take time to acclimatize to the altitude. Prepare adequately for the upcoming trekking adventure and spend the night in Gangi.

Day 2

Rest

Rest Day in Gangi: Utilize this day to rest and adjust to the altitude in Gangi Village. Explore the local culture, interact with villagers, and absorb the unique traditions of the region. Adequate preparation is essential for a successful trek ahead.

Day 3

Kharsoli Bugyal, Chhani Camp

Trek Commences: Embark from Gangi Village towards Kharsoli Bugyal, a picturesque alpine meadow boasting stunning vistas and diverse flora. Revel in the natural beauty along the trekking route.

Camp at Chhani:Arrive at Chhani Camp nestled amidst the meadows by evening. Marvel at the panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks and spend a tranquil night under the starlit sky.

Day 4

Chowki

Trek to Chowki: Continue your trek from Chhani Camp, traversing through enchanting alpine meadows and verdant forests towards Chowki. Delight in the rich biodiversity of the region.

Camp at Chowki:Reach Chowki, another idyllic campsite offering sweeping vistas of the Himalayan range. Rest and prepare for the challenges of the following day's ascent.

Day 5

Masar Tal

Ascend to Masar Tal: Embark on a challenging trek from Chowki to Masar Tal, a sacred high-altitude lake renowned for its serenity and spiritual significance. Navigate through rugged terrain as you gain altitude.

Day 7

Kedarnath

Trek to Kedarnath: Embark on the final leg of your trekking expedition from Vasuki Tal to Kedarnath, a revered pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva. Explore the ancient temple and immerse yourself in the spiritual aura of Kedarnath.

Exploration in Kedarnath:Spend time delving into the spiritual ambiance of Kedarnath, paying homage at the ancient temple and absorbing the sanctity of the surroundings.

Day 8

Kedarnath to Gaurikund

Descent to Gaurikund: Commence your descent from Kedarnath to Gaurikund, marking the conclusion of your trekking adventure. From Gaurikund, arrange transportation back to Dehradun, bidding farewell to the Himalayan sanctuary.

Day 9

Return

Getting There

How To Reach

By Air

Dehradun’s airport is the Jolly Grant Airport, which is located 20 km away from the city centre. You can hire a taxi from the airport to reach the city, which should take you 40 to 45 minutes depending upon traffic.

By Train

Dehradun is connected by regular train services to various cities. The Dehradun Railway Station is located 1-2 kilometres away from the city centre and should take you only ten minutes, depending on traffic.

By Road

Dehradun is well connected to cities like Delhi, Shimla, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Agra, and Mussoorie by various buses. Most operate from the ISBT near Clement Town, with departures every 15–60 minutes. Additional services run from the Mussoorie Bus Station near the railway station and the Delhi Bus Stand on Gandhi Road.

How do you manage toilets?

We use portable toilet tents for sanitation needs, as permanent structures may not available. These are dry toilets, so please bring wet wipes or tissue paper for personal hygiene.

Do I need to carry trek equipment?

For this trek you just need a day bag to carry during the trek, extra luggage can be left behind at the camp site. Proper bedded swiss tents are available on this trek.

Can we consume Alcohol during the trek?

It’s a strict no. If you fall sick during the trek due to alcohol consumption H2H has the right to cancel your trek and send you back to base village. No expenses shall be refunded in that case and you will have to pay additional for stay at base village.

How do I prepare for the trek?

Start running/walking at least 3-4 Kms everyday.

What kind of shoes will I need? Does a sport shoe work?

If it’s a snow trek a good trekking shoe is mandatory. If you buy a new shoe do walk for few days so that it fits you well and doesn’t leave you with blisters while you trek. If it is a summer trek or post monsoon trek a shoe with good grip and ankle support will do.
