Overview

Your Adventure at a Glance

The Tarsar Marsar Trek is one of the most beautiful alpine lake treks in Kashmir, taking trekkers through lush meadows, pine forests, glacier-fed streams, and breathtaking high-altitude lakes. Nestled deep within the Aru Valley region, this trek is famous for its twin lakes — Tarsar and Marsar — both surrounded by dramatic mountain landscapes and untouched Himalayan wilderness.

What makes this trek special is the constant change in scenery. The trail moves through dense forests, wide grasslands, shepherd settlements, flower-filled valleys, and crystal-clear lakes that reflect the surrounding snow-clad peaks. Unlike many crowded Himalayan routes, Tarsar Marsar offers a peaceful and immersive trekking experience where nature remains largely untouched.

The highlight of the trek is camping beside the stunning Tarsar Lake and witnessing the mystical beauty of Marsar Lake from the ridge above. During the trekking season, the meadows burst into shades of green and colorful wildflowers, making the landscape look almost surreal.

With moderate difficulty and a maximum altitude of around 13,100 ft, the trek is suitable for trekkers with good fitness levels and even ambitious beginners looking for a rewarding Himalayan adventure.
