Day 1

Shimla to Sangla (9-10 Hours)

Shimla:Starting from the bustling hill station of Shimla, known for its colonial architecture and vibrant Mall Road, you will embark on a scenic drive towards Sangla. The journey, spanning approximately 9-10 hours, will take you through the picturesque landscapes of Himachal Pradesh, passing through lush green valleys, quaint villages, and winding mountain roads.

Sangla:Sangla is a charming village located in the Baspa Valley of Kinnaur. Nestled amidst apple orchards and surrounded by towering peaks, Sangla offers stunning views of the Kinner Kailash range. It's an ideal spot to acclimatize and prepare for the trekking days ahead.

Day 2

Sangla to Thangi (5-6 Hours)

Sangla:After spending the night in Sangla, you will begin your trek towards Thangi. The trail gradually ascends, providing ample opportunities to take in the serene beauty of the Baspa Valley.

Thangi:Thangi is a small, picturesque village that serves as a gateway to the higher reaches of the Kinnaur region. The village is characterized by its traditional architecture and terraced fields. It's a great place to experience the local culture and hospitality of the Kinnauri people.

Day 3

Thangi to Lambar (4-5 Hours)

Thangi:Departing from Thangi, the trail to Lambar is relatively gentle, offering a mix of ascents and descents through verdant forests and alpine meadows.

Lambar:Lambar is a remote village situated along the trekking route. It provides a tranquil environment to rest and rejuvenate. The village is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, making it a perfect spot for photography and nature walks.

Day 4

Lambar to Charang (6-7 Hours)

Lambar:Leaving Lambar, the trek to Charang involves a more challenging terrain with steeper ascents. The path winds through rocky landscapes and high-altitude pastures.

Charang:Charang is a quaint village located closer to the Charang Pass. It is known for its traditional houses and ancient temples. The village offers a unique cultural experience, allowing trekkers to interact with the local community and learn about their way of life.

Day 5

Charang to Lalanti (4-5 Hours)

Day 6

Rest and Acclimatization in Lalanti

Day 7

Lalanti to Charang La to Chitkul (8-9 Hours)

Lalanti:Starting early from Lalanti, the trek involves crossing the Charang La Pass, a high-altitude pass that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.

Charang La:The ascent to Charang La is steep and demanding, but the panoramic vistas from the top are rewarding. After crossing the pass, the descent towards Chitkul begins.

Chitkul:Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border, is renowned for its stunning landscapes and serene ambiance. The village is situated on the banks of the Baspa River, offering picturesque views and a peaceful environment to rest after the long trek.

Day 8

Chitkul to Rakcham (3-4 Hours)

Chitkul:From Chitkul, a relatively short and gentle trek leads to Rakcham. The path follows the Baspa River, providing beautiful views of the valley and surrounding mountains.

Rakcham:Rakcham is a scenic village located between Sangla and Chitkul. It is known for its idyllic setting, surrounded by dense forests and snow-capped peaks. The village offers a serene atmosphere, making it a perfect place to unwind and reflect on the trekking journey.

Day 9

Rakcham to Shimla

Rakcham:The final day involves a drive back to Shimla from Rakcham. The journey takes you through the enchanting landscapes of Himachal Pradesh, retracing your route through the Kinnaur Valley.

Shimla:Returning to Shimla marks the end of this incredible trekking adventure. You can spend some time exploring Shimla's attractions, reflecting on the memories and experiences gained during the trek.

Buntar Airport is the nearest airport to reach Thangi which is 160 km away. From there you will hire a cab to reach Thangi.

By Train

There is no railway station near Thangi in less than 10 km. However, Shimla Railway Station is the nearest railway station to reach Thangi which is 172 Km away.

By Road

By Road: Thangi is well connected by motorable road you can hire a personal cab to Thangi from Delhi.

If you are going on a trek don’t expect mobile signals. There are few spots on the trails of few treks where you might find a single tower or something but it always depends if that is enough to make a call or not.

How do you manage toilets?

We use portable toilet tents for sanitation needs, as permanent structures may not available. These are dry toilets, so please bring wet wipes or tissue paper for personal hygiene.

Do I need to carry trek equipment?

For this trek you just need a day bag to carry during the trek, extra luggage can be left behind at the camp site. Proper bedded swiss tents are available on this trek.

Can we consume Alcohol during the trek?

It’s a strict no. If you fall sick during the trek due to alcohol consumption H2H has the right to cancel your trek and send you back to base village. No expenses shall be refunded in that case and you will have to pay additional for stay at base village.

How do I prepare for the trek?

Start running/walking at least 3-4 Kms everyday.

What kind of shoes will I need? Does a sport shoe work?

If it’s a snow trek a good trekking shoe is mandatory. If you buy a new shoe do walk for few days so that it fits you well and doesn’t leave you with blisters while you trek. If it is a summer trek or post monsoon trek a shoe with good grip and ankle support will do.
