The Dzo Jongo East Peak Trek is one of Ladakh’s most thrilling high-altitude adventures, combining the scenic beauty of the Markha Valley with the challenge of summiting a 6,250-meter Himalayan peak. Situated in the remote landscapes of Ladakh, this expedition takes trekkers through ancient villages, barren mountain deserts, river crossings, vast grasslands, and dramatic alpine terrain before reaching the summit of Dzo Jongo East.
Often considered an excellent introduction to 6000-meter peaks, Dzo Jongo East offers a non-technical yet physically demanding climbing experience. Trekkers get exposure to basic mountaineering techniques, including the use of crampons, ropes, and safety equipment during the summit attempt. The journey gradually gains altitude through the beautiful Markha Valley, allowing proper acclimatization before reaching the higher camps.
One of the biggest highlights of the trek is the summit day, where trekkers begin their climb at night and witness sunrise from over 20,500 ft. The summit rewards climbers with breathtaking panoramic views of the Zanskar Range, Karakoram Range, Kang Yatse peaks, and vast stretches of the Changthang Plateau.
Apart from the climbing experience, the route also offers a deep cultural connection with Ladakh through traditional villages, monasteries, shepherd settlements, and the unique landscapes of Hemis National Park. This trek is ideal for experienced trekkers looking to step into the world of high-altitude peak expeditions.
