Overview

Your Adventure at a Glance

The Markha Valley Trek is one of the most iconic and culturally rich trekking experiences in Ladakh. Nestled within the stunning landscapes of Hemis National Park, this trek combines dramatic mountain scenery, remote Himalayan villages, ancient monasteries, high-altitude passes, and unique Ladakhi culture into a single unforgettable journey.

Unlike many Himalayan treks that focus only on alpine landscapes, the Markha Valley route offers a deep cultural experience. Trekkers pass through traditional mud-brick villages, Buddhist prayer walls, monasteries, and grazing fields where locals continue to follow centuries-old mountain traditions. The trail follows the Markha River through narrow canyons, colorful rock formations, wooden bridges, and vast open valleys surrounded by towering peaks.

One of the biggest highlights of the trek is crossing Kongmaru La Pass at around 17,300 ft, which offers spectacular panoramic views of Kang Yatse, the Zanskar Range, and the rugged mountains of Ladakh. The route also passes through the beautiful high-altitude meadows of Nimaling, one of the most scenic campsites in the region.

With its combination of adventure, culture, wildlife, and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes, the Markha Valley Trek remains one of the finest high-altitude treks in India.
