Trek Itinerary

Day 1

Dehradun to Raithal village

Dehradun's Charm: As the capital city of Uttarakhand, Dehradun is a blend of bustling streets, historical sites, and gateways to the Himalayan adventures.

Scenic Route: The drive from Dehradun to Raithal Village covers approximately 185 kilometers, taking around 6-7 hours. This journey unfolds through the mountain roads, offering views of the changing landscapes from the Shivalik foothills to the higher reaches of the Garhwal Himalayas

Through the Valleys: The route passes through Mussoorie, offering a chance to glimpse the Queen of the Hills, before winding down towards Uttarkashi and finally ascending to Raithal. The journey is punctuated with verdant valleys, rushing rivers, and quaint hamlets.

Raithal's Warmth: Nestled at an elevation of around 2,200 meters, Raithal is a gateway to the Dayara Bugyal treks. This village is characterized by its serene environment, traditional Garhwali architecture, and the warm hospitality of its residents.

Day 2

Raithal village to gue or Chilpada Camp

Distance and Terrain: The trek from Raithal to the Gui or Chilpada Campsites covers an initial ascent through oak and rhododendron forests. The trail, spanning approximately 5-6 kilometers, is a moderate climb, offering trekkers their first real taste of the Himalayan wilderness.

Campsite Serenity: Gui and Chilpada offer picturesque campsites, set against the backdrop of dense forests and the silent peaks. These spots are perfect for resting and acclimatizing, with clear night skies that are a stargazer's delight.

Flora and Fauna: The trek route is alive with the sounds of the forest and the sight of wildlife. Trekkers can observe a variety of birds, and if lucky, catch glimpses of the elusive Himalayan Monal.

Day 3

Gue to dayara summit and Return to Gue

Dayara Bugyal: The trek to the Dayara Bugyal summit is a journey through sprawling meadows, offering panoramic views of the Himalayas. The summit day involves a round trip of approximately 8-10 kilometers from Gui, traversing through west bugyals (high-altitude meadows) that are among the most beautiful in India.

Breathtaking Vistas: From the summit, trekkers are rewarded with 360-degree views of majestic peaks such as Bandarpoonch, Bhagirathi, and Draupadi ka Danda. The meadows are particularly mesmerizing in the early morning light or at sunset, transforming into a golden hue.

Day 4

Raithal to Dehradun

Last Glances: Leaving Raithal, trekkers carry with them the tranquility of the village mornings, the hospitality of its people, and the untouched beauty of its landscapes. Return to Dehradun

Scenic Drive Back: The return journey to Dehradun retraces the picturesque route through the mountains, offering one last chance to savor the views of the Garhwal Himalayas. It's a time to relax and reminisce about the days spent in the embrace of nature.

Getting There

How To Reach

By Air

Dehradun’s airport is the Jolly Grant Airport, which is located 20 km away from the city centre. You can hire a taxi from the airport to reach the city, which should take you 40 to 45 minutes depending upon traffic.

By Train

Dehradun is connected by regular train services to various cities. The Dehradun Railway Station is located 1-2 kilometres away from the city centre and should take you only ten minutes, depending on traffic.

By Road

Dehradun is well connected to cities like Delhi, Shimla, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Agra, and Mussoorie by various buses. Most operate from the ISBT near Clement Town, with departures every 15–60 minutes. Additional services run from the Mussoorie Bus Station near the railway station and the Delhi Bus Stand on Gandhi Road.

How difficult is Dayara Bugyal Trek?

Dayara Bugyal is an easy grade trek which is an ideal trek for beginners as well as intermediate trekkers. It is one of the most beautiful Bugyal in Uttarakhand with panoramic views of the Yamunotri and Gangotri range of Himalayas. Consider it as a trek with lesser efforts and greater rewards. This trek can be done throughout the year. From December to March the trek is covered in snow, in summers and post monsoon the Bugyal is lush green and is a treat to the eyes

How do I get to Dayara Bugyal?

The trek starts from two villages – Raithal or Barsu. We recommend Raithal as the trek is more beautiful from this village. One needs at least 4 days from Dehradun to complete this trek. Dehradun is the nearest Airport and Railway station for this trek. Raithal is around 180 kms from Dehradun.

Is there snow in Dayara Bugyal?

One can find snow in Dayara Bugyal from December to March. It is a wonderful experience to trek the Bugyal in winters. Sometimes in case of early snowfall one can find snow even in November but it depends on snowfall. >

Can we camp in Dayara Bugyal?

Camping in Dayara Bugyal is not allowed. The Uttarakhand High court passed a order according to which camping is banned in Bugyals of Uttarakhand. The order is applicable for all the Bugyals in Uttarakhand >

What if we want to leave extra luggage at the base village?

You can keep extra luggage in the base village for any particular trek. There are no cloak roo charges applicable. Its free of cost.

Is there mobile signals available on treks?

If you are going on a trek don’t expect mobile signals. There are few spots on the trails of few treks where you might find a single tower or something but it always depends if that is enough to make a call or not.

How do you manage toilets?

We use portable toilet tents for sanitation needs, as permanent structures may not available. These are dry toilets, so please bring wet wipes or tissue paper for personal hygiene.

Do I need to carry trek equipment?

For this trek you just need a day bag to carry during the trek, extra luggage can be left behind at the camp site. Proper bedded swiss tents are available on this trek.

Can we consume Alcohol during the trek?

It’s a strict no. If you fall sick during the trek due to alcohol consumption H2H has the right to cancel your trek and send you back to base village. No expenses shall be refunded in that case and you will have to pay additional for stay at base village.

How do I prepare for the trek?

Start running/walking at least 3-4 Kms everyday.

What kind of shoes will I need? Does a sport shoe work?

If it’s a snow trek a good trekking shoe is mandatory. If you buy a new shoe do walk for few days so that it fits you well and doesn’t leave you with blisters while you trek. If it is a summer trek or post monsoon trek a shoe with good grip and ankle support will do.
