Day 1

Dehradun to Gangotri

Departure from Dehradun: Your pilgrimage begins with a scenic drive from Dehradun to Gangotri, traversing through the picturesque landscapes of Uttarakhand. This journey offers glimpses of the lush valleys and the majestic Himalayas.

Arrive at Gangotri: By evening, reach Gangotri, a holy town situated on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. Gangotri is revered as one of the Char Dhams in Hinduism. Spend your evening exploring the town and visiting the Gangotri Temple.

Day 2

Gangotri to Bhojbasa

Gangotri Temple Visit: Starting the day with a visit to the Gangotri temple, one of the four Char Dhams, offers a spiritual commencement. The temple, located on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, is dedicated to Goddess Ganga.

Trek to Bhojbasa: The trek from Gangotri to Bhojbasa is a moderate climb along the Bhagirathi River, offering panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Bhojbasa, located at the base of the Bhagirathi peaks, provides a spectacular camping site with an open view of the starlit sky.

Day 3

Bhojbasa to Tapovan via Gangotri Glacier and return to Bhojbasa

Trek to Tapovan via Gaumukh Glacier: From Bhojbasa, trek towards Gaumukh, the source of the Ganges. Crossing the Gaumukh Glacier can be challenging but is ultimately rewarding. Continue your ascent to Tapovan, an alpine meadow known for its stunning views of Mt. Shivling and the Meru Peak.

Explore Tapovan: Spend time in Tapovan, exploring its beauty, and then commence your return trek to Bhojbasa for another peaceful night surrounded by the majestic Himalayas.

Day 4

Bhojbasa to Gangotri

Trek Back to Gangotri: Begin your descent from Bhojbasa back to Gangotri. This trek back allows you to reflect on the spiritual and natural beauty experienced during your journey.

Evening at Gangotri: Upon arrival in Gangotri, you may choose to participate in the Ganga Aarti or simply rest, reminiscing about the trek and the serene moments spent at Gaumukh and Tapovan.

Day 5

Gangotri to Dehradun

Departure from Gangotri: After breakfast, start your drive back to Dehradun. This journey marks the conclusion of your spiritual and adventurous trek to one of Hinduism's holiest sites.

Arrival in Dehradun: By evening, reach Dehradun, bringing your pilgrimage to a close. Reflect on the profound experiences, the divine landscapes, and the tranquility of the Himalayas that accompanied you throughout this journey.

Getting There

How To Reach

By Air

Dehradun’s airport is the Jolly Grant Airport, which is located 20 km away from the city centre. You can hire a taxi from the airport to reach the city, which should take you 40 to 45 minutes depending upon traffic.

By Train

Dehradun is connected by regular train services to various cities. The Dehradun Railway Station is located 1-2 kilometres away from the city centre and should take you only ten minutes, depending on traffic.

By Road

Dehradun is well connected to cities like Delhi, Shimla, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Agra, and Mussoorie by various buses. Most operate from the ISBT near Clement Town, with departures every 15–60 minutes. Additional services run from the Mussoorie Bus Station near the railway station and the Delhi Bus Stand on Gandhi Road.

We use portable toilet tents for sanitation needs, as permanent structures may not available. These are dry toilets, so please bring wet wipes or tissue paper for personal hygiene.

Do I need to carry trek equipment?

For this trek you just need a day bag to carry during the trek, extra luggage can be left behind at the camp site. Proper bedded swiss tents are available on this trek.

Can we consume Alcohol during the trek?

It’s a strict no. If you fall sick during the trek due to alcohol consumption H2H has the right to cancel your trek and send you back to base village. No expenses shall be refunded in that case and you will have to pay additional for stay at base village.

How do I prepare for the trek?

Start running/walking at least 3-4 Kms everyday.

What kind of shoes will I need? Does a sport shoe work?

If it’s a snow trek a good trekking shoe is mandatory. If you buy a new shoe do walk for few days so that it fits you well and doesn’t leave you with blisters while you trek. If it is a summer trek or post monsoon trek a shoe with good grip and ankle support will do.
